The Promise of the EU

L’evento, che si tiene a Roma il 12 e il 13 settembre, si pone l’obiettivo di soffermarsi sull’importanza dell’integrazione culturale europea e sul ruolo strategico rappresentato dal mondo mediatico nel completamento di questo processo integrativo.

L’evento è stato organizzato in occasione  del semestre italiano della Presidenza di turno del Consiglio dell’Unione europea, dal Dipartimento delle Politiche Europee della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri e la Commissione Europea nell’ambito del Progetto “The Promise of the European Union”.

Il Progetto giunge in un momento particolarmente opportuno in cui il ruolo dell’Unione è in fase di perfezionamento, in prospettiva del nuovo contesto economico e sociale del XXI secolo. I risultati sono rivolti a fornire un contributo alle politiche delle Istituzioni dell’Unione europea.

“The Promise of the European Union” analizzerà tre questioni di rilievo:

• Che livello di unità vogliono i cittadini dell’Unione e quali sono le aree in cui dovrebbe avvenire l’integrazione?
• Che cosa renderebbe l’Ue più democratica?
• Qual è l’aspettativa globale dei cittadini dell’Unione?

Collaborano all’evento il Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico, la RAI, lo European Broadcasting Union (EBU), la Fondazione MAXXI e il FormezPA.

L’evento è a numero chiuso e la partecipazione è consentita soltanto su invito nominativo.

The event to be held in Rome on 12 and 13 September, aims to highlight the importance of European cultural integration and the strategic role played by media in completing this integrating process.

The event is organised in the framework of the Project "The Promise of the EU" during the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, by the Department of the European Policies of Italy's Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the European Commission.

The project “The Promise of the European Union” is well-timed and arrives just when the role of the Union is being refined in the light of the new economic and social context of the 21st Century. The outcomes of this project intend to help the European Union Institutions' policy-making.

“The Promise of the European Union” will examine three major questions:

• How much unity do Union citizens want and what are the areas where integration should take place?
• What would make the EU more democratic?
• What is the overall expectation of the Union's citizens?

Italy's Ministry of Economic Development, RAI, European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Fondazione MAXXI and FormezPA are partners in the event.
